The Latin Percussion LP552X-1BK is a signature model tumba that pays homage to the legendary percussionist Carlos "Patato" Valdez. Known for his innovative contributions to Latin music and his "melodic" approach to conga playing, Patato's design preferences are embodied in this instrument. This tumba stands at 30 inches tall, featuring a fiberglass shell that provides a blend of deep bass tones and crisp highs. The shell's construction includes a steel ring at the bearing edge for enhanced strength and stability. The drum is equipped with a 12-1/2" natural rawhide head, Comfort Curve® II Rims, reinforced LP Heart side plates with 5/16" diameter tuning lugs, and LP ProCare Shell Protectors.
